Apply: The Admission Process
Our Dynamy class is just over 40 interns coming from across the country and globe and from a broad range of educational experiences. Whether you are coming with a college deferral, a few semesters of college under your belt, or if you’re just taking the time to decide what’s next for you, there’s a lot to gain from time at Dynamy. We know that deciding to take a gap year can be a big step so our admissions process is designed to create a personalized and comprehensive look to make sure we’re the right fit for you.
Application:
Students can apply to Dynamy using our paper or online application. The application will ask you basic demographic information, education background, internship areas of interest, and a quick personal statement asking why you would like to join us at Dynamy. The Dynamy application is less taxing then a college application but it is important to note that our application cannot be saved.
There is a $40 application fee that can be paid by check via mail or paid during your visit to Dynamy.
Transcript:
Dynamy is a non-academic program but we do require a high school, or college transcript, to ensure that a student is either working towards graduation from high school or has graduated. All transcripts can be unofficial.
Recommendation Forms:
Dynamy requires two recommendation forms, ideally one academic and one community for each student. The forms can be access here but will also be emailed directly to your recommenders if you add their email in your application. The recommendation form consists of short answer and fill in the bubble questions and typically takes about 10 minutes to complete. The form will come to Dynamy electronically once the recommender clicks submit.
Parent/Guardian Statement:
This is a short answer and fill in the bubble form (similar to the recommendation form) where parents/ guardians are able to talk more about strengths and challenges of the student. The parent/ guardian statement needs to be submitted before we can complete the student and parent interviews.
Interviews:
Once we have a student’s application and the parent/ guardian statement we can move forward with scheduling the interviews. Interviews typically take about 45 minutes and will allow students and parents to ask questions in a one-on-one setting. Students will usually interview with someone from our advising staff and parents/ guardians will typically interview with someone from the admissions team. Interviews allow Dynamy to ensure that a student is a fit for the program and that we are a fit for them.
**Dynamy offers both in person and remote information sessions and interviews. We welcome in person visits and will work with each family to determine what is most convenient.
