Get Ready For Adventure

Challenging, Fun, and Great Bonding

A Foundation. A Metaphor. A 10-Day Adventure Challenge.

Every Dynamy student’s path begins with a little adventure. Fun team building games, high and low ropes course elements, out into the woods, out over the water, up into the trees, up a mountainside. Dynamy firmly believes there is no better start to create your own life with confidence than by taking a chance on a challenging, different and fun journey.

The Adventure Challenge is the first thing students accomplish before moving in and starting their internships. Initially, students start with a two day ropes course program. After that, they take on a week of backpacking, hiking, canoeing and camping trip in the backcountry woods of Maine. The ropes course is owned and managed by Dynamy’s parent company YOU Inc. and is local to Dynamy’s campus, just an hour away. The ropes course portion of the Adventure Challenge is facilitated by formally trained Dynamy staff members. For the hike and backpacking, Dynamy utilizes the sites and services of the University of Maine 4-H Program at Bryant Pond. They’re professionally trained wilderness guides that take our Dynamy groups out into the woods. Finally, the rest of the year students will engage in the continuation of team building activities through games and events taking place during Monday Programming and other community gatherings.

You Can Do It!

Many future students may be thinking, “yikes, I don’t know about this!” But, it’s worth it. Over the past decade, 85% of Dynamy graduates have rated the adventure challenges as highly as possible. Students report it helped them get rid of distractions and focus on what truly matters. In fact, it showed them that they could do more than they thought, which brought them together as a group. As a result, students quickly formed meaningful friendships.

Students don’t have to be a top athlete or nature lover to get the most out of the ropes course, the trip to Maine, or the other adventure challenge activities throughout the year. More than 5 decades of students of all abilities have not only completed these experiences, but have thrived. To be successful you just have to be willing to try, and to have a positive attitude. The experience of doing something active, out-of-the-ordinary, and a bit inspirational will do the rest.

Read some of our frequently asked questions

What if I don’t know what internships I want to do?

Don’t worry! We hear this often. Many students coming into Dynamy are unsure of their internship path or even where they want to start. Dynamy has a trusted team of advisors that can help you navigate the process and find an internship that will be a good fit for you. Part of Internship Year is exploration and gaining a better understanding of your interest and passions.

What is the age range for Dynamy?

Dynamy interns are 17-22 years old. Many students attend Dynamy right after graduating high school- others come after a few semesters of college. Whatever your recent path may be, you should apply if you feel ready! The most important factor for a successful Internship Year is the motivation to work with supportive advisors, like-minded peers and real world internships.

Can you help me figure out next steps after Dynamy?

We understand transitions can be hard, especially trying to make plans for next steps. Dynamy advisers work with students throughout the year to discuss and assist with future planning. Additionally, Dynamy has a part-time college counselor on our team to help students navigate the college process from individual classes to colleges and universities.
