Room at the Top:
High Achievement for Students of Color

Boston, MA: October 4, 2006

Dynamy's Youth Academy program recently participated in a one-day conference being sponsored by the Nellie Mae Education Foundation. For the past 5 years, the foundation's Minority High Achievement inititive has supported a group of secondary school programs that serve low-income students of color. Some of the programs are based at public schools, while others operate during after-school hours, summers, and weekends.

These exemplary programs, and many others like them, are achieving impressive student academic outcomes and preparing a diverse population of students to enter and graduate from college.

This full-day conference recognized these programs, celebrated the talented and motivated students they serve, and suggested best practices for helping students of color reach their full potential.
