"I had often thought about taking a year off
after high school, and luckily, my parents supported that idea. We
were working with an educational consultant who recommended Dynamy.
It seems to me that there are no other programs quite like Dynamy,
which offers structure, yet a lot of freedom and a chance to
discover what interests you in the work
world."

University Internship(s): A.G. Edwards, New England
Surge Career Interests: Sports, business
"During
each of my internships, I learned to be assertive in the work place,
and I realized that working 35-40 hours a week isn’t as easy as it
looks, but it is gratifying. I also learned through my internship
with the Surge that I want to change my major to Sports Management
with a minor in Finance.

"I was a
straight-A student and a dedicated athlete throughout high school. I
worked extremely hard, and by the time I got to senior year, the
last thing I wanted to think about was another 4 years in school.
College has always been part of my plans, but I also realized that I
have a lot of life to live. I wanted to take a year off but also
wanted to continue learning, so I decided to take the experiential
education route; it brought me straight to Dynamy.

School: Wentworth Institute of
Technology, Internship(s): Worcester Publishing IT Dept.,
Channing Terrace Community Center Career Interests:
Technical support, electronics, computer
repair
" Having little experience in the workplace, I
learned a great deal about the office environment. I also learned
that when I put my mind to it, I can accomplish a lot. Completing
the task of setting up a Linux web server was a huge asset to
Worcester Magazine. It’s something they will always use, and
something I will always know how to do. It was also very interesting
to see how all the individual departments came together to
accomplish one goal, and how I actually made a large impact on that
process. My internship reinforced my desire to work in the
information technology field. Not only am I good at it, I can also
relate well to the people working in the
field."

"I've learned that
I'm more responsible and capable than I thought I was. I'm able to
live here in California and do everything on my own. I've even been
offered the job of Assistant Stage Manager for the show that runs
early this summer. It's been a very empowering experience!
